Publishing Services is proud to announce that the ALA’s Reference and User Services Association’s Best Historical Materials Committee has selected the “Handbook for European Studies Librarians” for inclusion in their annual list of the best historical materials.

Published by the Libraries in 2024, the Handbook serves as a practical guide for all kinds of researchers. Academic librarians, library and information staff professionals and scholars can all use the Handbook to confidently answer specialized research queries that involve resources created in or about Europe; the book can also serve as a useful resource for collection development.

In the Handbook for European Studies Librarians, editors Brian Vetruba and Heidi Madden “bring the expertise of ACRL’s top European and Eurasian librarians to all types of libraries and library patrons,” wrote Nancy Dennis from Salem State University, in her review of the book. “Due to its depth and breadth, and open-source accessibility, The Handbook for European Studies Librarians revolutionizes the nature of European history librarianship research and publishing.”

Congratulations to Brian, Heidi, and all the other experts who contributed to this publication!
