2025 Journal Policy Updates

The University of Minnesota Libraries Publishing Services continually works with editors to review and update journals’ policies so they reflect emerging best practices and continue to meet standards required by external indexes and databases.

Occasionally, indexes and databases request information about policies we might maintain as a publisher, particularly those around peer review, advertising, requesting corrections and retractions and research ethics. Any questions regarding these types of policies should be referred to the editorial boards of individual publications. Our role as a multi-disciplinary, scholar-led publisher is to support our editors as they develop journal-specific policies that cover these areas and to refer them to established guidelines from the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE), the Committee on Publishing Ethics (COPE), the Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ) and other trusted sources.

The team at the University of Minnesota Libraries Publishing Services strives to make publishing accessible for everyone. As such, we hope that this approach reflects our commitments to publishing high-quality open-access research and keeping scholarly production practices in the hands of scholars.
